The Butterfly Pavilion
  • The events industry decided to give me a try. During my time at the Butterfly Pavilion, I was the Special Events Coordinator. Check out http://www.butterflies.org/ - it's a fantastic place to take the kids or get married in a rainforest.

    • My main responsibility was to sell event space to raise money for the butterflies. This involves lots of marketing, networking and people, people, people.

    • I helped redefine the contracts and created a major overhaul of the processes within my department.

    • The events banquet room was due for a huge facelift. I implemented and facilitated a major portion of that remodel.

    • The butterflies were a part of the Chamber of Commerce and I planned and executed a "visit the butterflies" evening.

    • Working relationships with vendors were a consistent responsibility. I like working with people. And, I'm good at it.

    • My sales quotas were consistently met or exceeded.

A Big Worldwide Telecommunications Corporation

  • I get to be an intern, I'm told! Still in college, working on my minor in events and conferences, I'm whisked away to a telecom company.

  • During my short time, and in preparation for 3 major employee events, I:

    • Did lots and lots of research, compiling and reporting on a variety of vendors, including: facilities, musicians, catering, hotels, transportation, auxiliary events, and awards.

    • Assisted in a site preview/audit. Here, I was able to help with logistics and utilize my video and audio production background to help translate the technical lingo.

    • Was proactive with the marketing department in preparing collateral materials and "rules of the road" for event participants.

A Famous Fitness/Wellness Resort

  • My first event position, long ago, which whetted my appetite for this wild, whacky event world. As the Assistant Director of a state-wide marathon, my duties included:

    • Arranging and presenting speakers. Well-known industry leaders in Tucson who spoke on health topics were presented in weekly televised fitness clinics at the University of Arizona, a few of which I hosted.

    • Extensive media and attendee relations.

    • Marketing the event to target organizations via direct presentation.

    • Event day madness.

    • Post event day clean up and reporting of the madness to the director and foundation.
